The Key to Happiness – How to Enjoy Life
Are you ready to start enjoying your life? Are you constantly stressed? Do you want to take life into your own hands? I am going to give you some tips and ideas that will help you to get the most out of your life and enjoy living to the fullest.
These are ideas that I discovered through my journey of meditation and to becoming a better person. Some may seem like common sense but until someone actually explains it to you, it is a lot easier to overlook.
These are the keys to happiness.
This is a factor that is constantly overlooked. Now I’m not saying that you need to become a health aficionado but try to eat healthier food. One easy way of doing this is to just stop buying junk food so there is no temptation to eat it. With improved nutrition you will find yourself with more energy, less mood swings and generally happier.
Any amount of exercise is alright. Even just a 15 minute walk every day. You will find yourself with more drive and energy.
Around 8 to 9 hours sleep a night would suffice but this generally depends on the person. If you wake up every morning and feel tired throughout the day that can mean that you are getting too little or too much sleep, yes there is such a thing as over-sleeping.
Living in the Present.
You need to live in the present, even if it is only for a little bit each day as it will get you back in touch with your instincts and nature. You can take a slow walk once a day without any music in and just concentrate on your surroundings, not the voices inside your head.
This means that you are fully experiencing what you are doing at that particular time, you notice things more clearly and have a greater awareness. It means self-talk and negative habits are put aside, it will show you that they achieve nothing and only harm you. Living in the present moment destroys the illusion that life is not already satisfactory as it is.
Here is a guide I wrote about living in the present: Mindfulness Exercises – Living in the Present.
Leaving Unsupportive People Behind.
When you are surrounded by negative and unsupportive people it will only bring you down. You need to leave them behind you, if they’re your ‘friend’ then don’t be anymore. If they’re your roommate then move out. Due to mirror neurons in your brain whenever you see someone do anything a copy of it is made in your brain, therefore if you surround yourself with negative people then you too will become negative and cannot live your life to the fullest.
I have found that bringing a worldview of compassion and happiness into your interactions with others from the start of the interaction can mean they adopt your happiness instead of you adapting to their negativity. It is about whoever is bringing the dominant worldview. Ultimately, if someone doesn’t make you happy, leave them to their own lives.
Do What You Enjoy.
You need to focus your mind on things that give you personal fulfilment. If you enjoy exercising and seeing the transformation of your body then find time to work out. If you hate your desk job then quit it. Take things up that you enjoy and it will immediately bring more happiness and joy into your life and those around you. As we were talking before about the mirror neurons, if you are happy and joyful, then those around you will also become happy and will enjoy being your friend.
